Bernd-Rainer Schaumann, the former veteran managing director of Royal Canin Tiernahrung, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 12 October. Schaumann had played a key role in the development of the company in Germany since 1984 and later successfully took the group as a whole onto the French stock exchange as its director general.
Greatly respected as a business and negotiating partner and with considerable shrewdness enhanced by great charisma and a Berliner's sense of humour, Bernd-Rainer Schaumann was seen as a leading figure in the company. He stepped down from Royal Canin in 2012 after a career there lasting 28 years to spend more time with his family and to realise various travel ambitions.
