The Fressnapf Group continues its European expansion with the acquisition of Jumper Groep. Europe's market leader in the pet industry acquires the currently second-largest specialist pet retailer in the Netherlands with retroactive effect from 1 January 2023, and is thus further expanding its position within Europe. At the time of the purchase, Jumper comprised 47 own stores, 3 franchise stores and 19 shop-in-shops.

After the merger with Arcaplanet in Italy, the investment into Zoocity in Croatia and the recent market entry in Romania, the business expansion in the Netherlands is the next strategic step for the company. Fressnapf/Maxi Zoo is now represented in 14 European countries with more than 2 000 stores.

"The acquisition of Jumper Groep is strategically important for Fressnapf. Jumper has great employees and stores throughout the country. The expansion will give us access to a highly developed and growing pet market with a volume of 1.7 bn euros. We are also convinced that our omnichannel ecosystem strategy will work in the Netherlands," says Fressnapf owner Torsten Toeller.

Kees Vierhouten, former owner of Jumper, declares: "We are very proud of how Jumper has grown and became a successful company. The vision and core values of the Fressnapf Group match perfectly with ours. Together with Fressnapf Jumper has now the opportunity, to realize its great ambitions in a growing Dutch market. I wish my team all the best for this endeavor."
