Fressnapf Austria takes over Tomy’s Zoo GmbH

What industry insiders have suspected for a long time has now occurred: according to a statement by the Austrian Federal Competition Authority, Fressnapf Handels GmbH, with its headquarters in Salzburg, is planning the acquisition of all shares in Tomy's Zoo GmbH in St. Pölten.
The deadline for the submission of a claim according to Art. 11 para. 1 of the Austrian Cartels Act by the authorities (request for the examination of a merger in cartel proceedings) ends on 17 August 2017.
Tomy's Zoo GmbH in St. Pölten operates the Zoo & Co. locations in Austria. Some of them are located in the immediate vicinity of Fressnapf locations, which industry insiders claim will result in their closure.
The future of Sagaflor-Fachhandelskette Zoo & Co. on the Austrian market is therefore once again uncertain.
