The start-up company EntoNative has received an investment of 1.1 million euros for its insect-based dog treats. 950 000 euros have been put in by BFB Brandenburg Kapital, a subsidiary of the investment bank of the state of Brandenburg, and 150 000 euros by other private investors. The new capital is to be invested in expanding production and in marketing.
The start-up near Berlin, which has been created from a research project at the University of Potsdam, produces dog treats based on mealworms under the TeneTrio brand. It became a limited company in June 2017. The company's webshop came onstream recently and its products are already being shipped throughout Germany. EntoNative's expansion and distribution plans will focus initially on Germany and then extend to the other German-speaking countries, according to the company.
